Neighbors unite to clean up streets and alleys

Despite chilly temperatures, dozens or McPhersonites turned out for an alley cleanup and bulk trash pick up on Sat. Oct. 21st.

Many items were cleared from alleys throughout the neighborhood. A large amount of the time was spent clearing a vacant lot off Babbitt Street on the neighborhoods eastern border. The teamwork paid off...and neighbors had fun blowing off some steam with shovels, rakes and chainsaws!

The afternoon was capped off by a pumpkin carving at Hawthorne school.

DDN visits Neighborhood Block Party
UPDATE! the Dayton Daily News article on McPherson Town was featured in the 11/12/00 edition. Click here to see a reprint of this article.

On Aug. 25, 2000 McPherson Town held it's annual block party at Hawthorne School. The onagain-offagain rain showers didn't hamper the consumption of hamburgers and hotdogs...or the competitive volleyball tournament. A photographer from the Dayton Daily News made an appearance at the event to take some pictures that will accompany an upcoming story on M-town and it's sense of community. Keep an eye out for the article and additional candids of Townies in the DDN.

McPherson Town on HGTV's "Restore America"
On Feb. 27, 2000 McPherson Town and Dayton View (anothe dayton historic district) were featured on the Home and Garden Channel's "Restore America" program. The segment on McPherson Town showcased the concept of a successful Neighborhood Development Corporation (NDC) such as ours, and the remarkable volunteerism within our community. Also highlighted was the Dayton-born concept of Rehabarama, first started in Mcpherson Town in 1993. M-Town received great coverage. It was exciting to watch our neighborhood on national television!
